Mairead & Johnny got married in Carrick-On-Shannon, with their wedding reception in The Landmark hotel.
It was a wet morning but Mairead was smiling like the sun was shining. And her parents Margaret & Martin greeted all with a lovely warm welcome & were brimming with pride at their only daughter’s big day.
Mairead & Johnny were so happy & laid back that it rubbed off on everyone else & the day was fun & relaxed. Regardless of the force majeure winds, the couple with their attentive bridal party, braved the weather & crossed over to the boardwalk for some photos. We didn’t quite achieve the soft look we were after but had some fun all the same & I hope it shows.
The Landmark, as ever, was looking fit for a King & Queen & the dining room like a banquet hall. And I heard afterwards that the meal lived up to all expectations.
Thanks again Mairead & Johnny for the pleasure of being part of your day x
Words from Mairead & Johnny: When & where did you both meet? In 2001. Johnny was working in a garage in Carrick with a neighbour of mine who did a bit of matchmaking. I was still in school & we crossed paths a few times at lunch. Thankfully there was no Facebook back then 😀 so we had a few weeks of constant texting before he finally asked me for a drink in the Landmark – little did we know it would be our wedding venue 15 years later..
Who & how did s/he propose? He got down on one knee at home with our pooch by his side. Knew I couldn’t say no to the puppy eyes
Do you have a top tip either specific or general about the day? Just enjoy every min as it will go by in a flash. Oh & do hire a videographer as well as a photographer. I very nearly didn’t until friends told me id regret it. It was lovely to be able to look back at both & see our guests enjoying the day.
Is there anything that you’d do differently if you were planning your wedding day again? Don’t skip breakfast. I didn’t manage much with nerves that morning which meant I was starving by the time we arrived at the hotel. Meant I wasted valuable time with the finger food when I should have been mingling with guests.
