Siobhan & Rory celebrated their wedding in the very historic & beautiful St. Mary’s, dominican order church in the very scenic Claddagh basin area of Galway.
One of the blessings of a Christmas wedding in the heart of the city is that when darkness falls in late afternoon, a seasonal atmosphere descends when the fairy lights & decorations light up the streets.
But the day started in Connemara. I arrived into great excitement in the Curran family home for Siobhan & Rory’s wedding. I’d photographed Siobhan’s brother Donal’s wedding a few years ago so there were some familiar faces.
Caroline Coyne MUA as usual did a great job on the bride & her girls.
I met Rory & his men at the church in the Claddagh, Galway City. The boys were busy greeting guests & getting button hole lessons when I arrived. Rory was looking dapper in his faintly checkered suit which complimented that of his groomsmen.
The church is in such a lovely part of the city that it was an easy decision to use both the Longwalk & then the Cathedral as backdrops. En-route to the Hardiman hotel we had a quick stop in the Quad in NUIG where the light & environment is nearly always ideal for photos. And then Siobhan & Rory made a quick stop in Eyre square in front of the Ferris wheel & the Christmas market.
Paula Feeney had a lovely warm welcome for the couples arrival into the Hardiman & the ballroom was, as ever, looking superb. The guests were in flying form & when I was leaving it had all the signs of a great night of celebrations.
Rory & Siobhan, it was a real pleasure ❤️
