Aisling & Seamus were married in Tourmakeady & had their reception in the The Castlecourt Hotel in Westport, Co. Mayo.
The sun was shining when I arrived at Aisling's on the wedding morning & her home place setting is postcard like with gorgeous mountain & lake views.
The couple were married by the lovely Fr John Kenny, who at this stage must be more famous than Jon Kenny!
With the glorious sun still shining after their wedding, we made our way back to the shores of Lough Mask outside Aisling's house for some bridal party shots & some very important pictures with the very excited family pooch, with her lovely floral wedding collar. We had to leave her at home as we made our way back into the welcoming arms of Vinnie in the Castlecourt Hotel, who was as professional as ever.
Aisling & Seamus - you were so easy going & have been a real pleasure to work with from start to end. Thank you for trusting me to capture your big day. Wishing you a very happy & long lifetime together.
Words from Aisling & Seamus
When & where did you both meet? We both went to the same playschool and secondary school however it was only in our early twenties that we started getting to know each other better. I was living in Guernsey while Seamus was working in Glasgow. There were times when our paths crossed when we both were home in Mayo so we kept in touch. Following an accident in Guernsey I had to move back home with my parents to recover. One day out of the blue he messaged me and said he was home for the weekend and asked would I like to go out for lunch. And that was the start of it. He flew back from Glasgow most weekends to see me after that. We lived in different countries for a year before moving back to Ireland.
Who & proposed & how did they do it? Seamus proposed to Aisling & he picked the ring myself one evening after work. The morning after the All-Ireland replay between Dublin and Mayo (We lost!) I went out to get breakfast and bought her flowers (I don’t do that often). She was surprised however didn’t think anything was up. During breakfast I asked her if she wanted to go to Howth for the day and off we went (ring in pocket). We had a lovely walk and I just didn’t think it was the right time with so many people around as Aisling hates public displays of soppy affection! We got home and Aisling went ahead into our bedroom, she turned around and I was down on my knee. I asked and she said yes. She was very shocked and happy. It felt great.
How long were you planning your wedding? Six months. We got engaged in early October 2017, booked the church and venue early in the New Year for a June 24 th wedding. People thought we were daft. We had everything booked by the end of January and had no problems getting the suppliers or even my dress. I had it made by Savin London through Alice May Bridal who were so easy to deal with. Do you have a top tip either specific or general about the day? Don’t get weighed down with all the wedding magazines and websites. Yes they are great for ideas and tips but you don’t have to do all the add on’s that everyone else has e.g. photo booth, favors, gifts for bridal party. Also make sure you have a list of photographs you want. Relax and take it all in. The day is over in a flash.
Is there anything that you'd do differently if you were planning your wedding day again? I wouldn’t get so stressed out about table plans.
Who did your hair & makeup? My make-up was done by Siobhan Mc Donnell from Galway. It was perfect. I don’t like heavy makeup and we all looked like ourselves. She was so chilled and friendly which really helps on the day. I had no idea what I wanted yet she got it just right.
Our hair was by Siobhan from LS hair in Westport. Like my make-up I really left it up to her. It was simple and classy. My bridesmaids were all different and it suited them all. The hair survived the night on the dancefloor!
Where did you get your cake, car(s), and flowers? Our cake was by Stephanie Fallon at Lovely Natural Cakes. I wanted something that tasted like my Granny baked it and it was delicious. We had 4 tiers of lemon drizzle, raspberry and white chocolate sponge, apple cake and chocolate biscuit cake. She was so lovely to deal with and gave great advice.
Our flowers were by Judi at Balla Florists. The awards she has won are well deserved. We wanted simple and neat. The pictures speak for themselves. She is great to deal with.
Our cars were from U2R1. Both drivers were lovely and very professional. It was nice to feel like a VIP for a day!
Who was your videographer? David Snedden from All West Videos. He was very good and discreet in the church.
Where did you go on honeymoon? We eventually settled on Cancun and it was wonderful. We didn’t realise how much we would need the break after all the excitement. It was nice to have time to reminisce about everything.
