The Glenlo Abbey was the destination wedding venue for Paul & Rea, who travelled from the UK with family & friends to join them in their wedding day celebrations.

This is their story:

Who proposed & how did they do it? Paul proposed in Dubai while we were on holiday, we were at dinner by the Dubai fountains listening to live music eating Argentinian food. After dinner Paul got on 1 knee and asked. I was crying so much I really don’t know exactly what he said but I said yes. Paul proposed with a fake ring so he could take me to the gold and diamond quarter the next day to design my own.

How long were you planning your wedding? 18 months

Do you have a top tip either specific or general about the day?
Don’t panic and enjoy the moment – talk to your suppliers and ask every question you have, even if you think it is silly as it will help settle your mind.

Is there anything that you’d do differently if you were planning your wedding day again? No – I would not change a thing

Who did your hair & makeup? Hair – Ray Skeltons; Makeup – Fiona Coyne

Where did you get your cake, car(s), flowers? Cake – Mama Goya – Emer is the most amazing lady and is soo helpful – let alone making a truly scrumptious cake Flowers – we made our own silk bouquets

Where did you go on honeymoon? Italy – a little island called Ischia and then Rome

Anything else that you’d like to share? Getting married to the one you love and spending the day with your closest friends and family is an amazing feeling. Glenlo Abbey’s team really did a great job at ensuring our wedding party had a great time while we were off having photos and made sure Paul and I had the best day possible. I highly recommend David Keane from Marry me Ireland to be your celebrant. He really helped us pull our day together and opened our eyes to scenarios we had not considered.
